Custom POS Button
To create a custom POS button to open a file for a specific program, follow these steps:
1. On the Database menu in Store Operations Manager, point to Registers, and then click Custom POS Buttons.
2. Note the highest number in the Number column, and then click New.
3. In the Number box, type a number that is larger than the number that you noted in step 2.
4. In the Style list, click External Program.
5. In the Caption box, type a label for the custom POS button.
6. In the Command box, type the folder location and executable file name for the program that you want to use to open the file, and then enclose what you have typed in quotation marks. The string that you type should resemble the following string:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE"
7. In the Command box, type the location of the file that you want to open. For example, if you want to open the Sample.doc file in your My Documents folder, type the following string:
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\sample.doc"
Notes• Type this information immediately after the string that you typed in step 6.
• The complete string in the Command box should resemble the following string. The application location and the document location must each be enclosed in separate sets of quotation marks.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE" "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\sample.doc"
8. Type any additional information in the Description box. This box is for information only. The contents of this box do not appear on the POS screen.
Note This step is optional.
9. If you want to load a graphic that will display on the custom POS button on the Transaction screen in Store Operations POS, click Load, and then find and select a graphics file.
Notes• This step is optional.
• If you do not load a graphic, the default graphic for the button is a 3.5-inch floppy disk.
10. Restart Store Operations POS.
