Having clean air in the home is critical for proper health. Dirty air that's filled with bacteria, mould spores, and viruses may cause a wide variety of health conditions. This is why you should ensure that your air conditioner is optimised to deliver high-quality air. There are several types of repairs that can help ensure your unit is an agent of clean air. When scheduling for a check-up, have your HVAC contractor carry out the following repairs.

1.    Cleaning ductwork

Ducts and vents are the channels through which air flows before it gets into your home. If the ducts are filled with dirt and debris, you will ultimately inhale contaminated air and compromise your health. Dirty vents can also cause blockages and the development of hot or cold spots in your home. This is why you should take ductwork cleaning seriously.

But how will you know if your ducts need to be cleaned? You may notice stuffy air whenever you turn on the AC. Others may also experience frequent irritation and coughing when the AC is blowing air. These are signs that you should have the ducts inspected and cleaned as soon as possible. Leaking ducts may also need to be replaced as they could potentially drive up your utility bill.

2.    Replacing worn-out fan blades

The fan blades are responsible for circulating air throughout your home. Over time, these blades may become worn out and thus incapable of delivering enough air at any given time. The result is an overworked AC that ends up accumulating more dust and dirt whenever the unit is running.

You can address this issue by replacing the fan blades when they become worn out. You should also ensure that the fan blades are of the right size and capable of circulating enough air when your unit is running. In some cases, you may need to regularly clean your blades to remove any dirt that has accumulated over time.

3.    Replacing damaged air filters

Air filters are used to remove particles from the air that's being challenged into your home. If these filters are clogged, they won't be able to clean incoming air efficiently. This is why clogged or damaged air filters should be replaced as soon as possible. The good news is that replacing air filters is a quick and simple process. You just need to purchase the correct replacement pieces and install them in place of the old ones.

4.    Repairing the condenser coil

The condenser coil is responsible for generating cool air in your AC. It does this job by cooling incoming warm air and allowing heat to flow to the outside of your home. But when the condenser coil is damaged, it can't cool air efficiently, and you may end up with warm, contaminated air in your home. Have your HVAC contractor inspect the condenser coil for any damage.
